Our History
A family business built on resilience, faith and a determination to feed the region.
African Farmer was founded by L. W. Nortier in the Arusha Valley, Tanzania.
The family relocated to Zimbabwe, laying the foundations for the next chapter of the business.
Farms were acquired and developed into well-known model farms with diverse production lines.
After the family’s assets were confiscated without compensation, African Farmer expanded into South Africa, focusing on grains and export vegetables.
A cattle-rearing operation was established in Maun.
Banks began relying on African Farmer to salvage indebted farms across the country. At its peak, AFG managed up to ten farms at one time, successfully returning them to profitable operation.
African Farmer expanded into Mozambique with a 1,000-hectare cotton seed operation.
Livestock, row crops, horticulture, high-value exports, trading and farm recovery across four countries.
